How it all began.

My name is Kathryn Luczakiewicz. I live in Redcar with my 3 teenage children and am a qualified counsellor accredited with the British Association of counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a Reiki practitioner. My work involves managing, developing the Well Being centre, counselling and teaching personal development/confidence building.

For 9 years I worked on the development & management of a counselling project within a hospital helping people with drug and alcohol issues. During this time I noticed that a common problem for people was social isolation. It struck me how many people lived away from the support of family and found it hard to meet people and had no support network at all. I also recognised how difficult it can be to meet new people. What I saw in many people was the desire to belong and make new friends, but no easy way of doing this.

An essential part of counselling training requires personal development. This has become a way of life for me. It has led to me seeking answers to the bigger questions in life and ultimately led me onto a spiritual path. I now live my life by following my intuition completely. My life has changed dramatically during this time with amazing coincidences, giving me evidence in my ongoing quest for faith.  In October 2007 I followed my heart and set up The Well Being Centre in Saltburn by the Sea.

The Well Being centre is a place that provides and hosts activities around the theme of looking after ourselves holistically.

The Centre has a number of aims. Individuals who feel isolated can come together and become part of a social community, learn new skills, explore new ways of living and work towards the life they seek. We also offer a place where people can access complementary therapies from our team of experienced and qualified therapists.

The centre also offers rooms for hire and has an out reach team which takes activities liinked to well being into the community, working organisations such as elderly care homes & Youth clubs working with client groups including people with learning disabilities and people with dementia.

Giving Something Back.

The Centre regularly supports local charities and good causes. Over the past two years we have raised money for The British Heart Foundation, The Primary Biliary Cirrhosis Foundation, hosted a knitting event and coffee morning for The Macmillan Nurses and we support The Saltburn Christmas Lights Appeal & Saltburn in Bloom.

The Centre sponsors the education and wellbeing of a young girl in the Gambia, through Action Aid, with regular fundraising events and donations through our Wellbeing library.
